Marie Woods, LMFT, CSAT-S, CMAT, CPTT, SEP is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist, Certified Partner Trauma Therapist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She is also trained in Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy (PIT) trauma model and holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies. Marie has completed Phase 1 & 2 of Brainspotting training.

Prior to working in private practice, Marie worked in two of the country’s top residential treatment centers in the field of sex addiction – The Meadows Behavioral Health (Arizona) and Pine Grove Behavioral Health (Mississippi). She has personally trained with world renowned experts in the field of addiction treatment including Dr. Patrick Carnes, Dr. Claudia Black, Pia Mellody, and Dr. Peter Levine.

Her work at Dr. Patrick Carnes’ Gentle Path treatment program has allowed her to acquire and utilize an in-depth approach to treating sex addiction. Marie works with both men and women struggling with sex addiction as well as their partners. Her training in partner betrayal trauma utilizes a cutting-edge approach for partners experiencing betrayal trauma as a result of sex addiction. She works with clients on and individual, couple, group, or intensive workshop basis.

In addition to the treatment of sex addiction and betrayal trauma, Marie’s training and clinical interests also include complex trauma, codependency, love addiction, internet/technology addiction, work and financial issues, and other intimacy challenges.

Marie is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is also a member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals, and the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.

She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University in San Diego, CA. She received her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Troy University in Troy, AL.

Marie aims to provide an authentic, empathic, and compassionate space while also challenging clients to grow, change, and heal. She is passionate about providing high quality, comprehensive care to each and every client. Her therapeutic style is direct, strategic, and relationally focused. She believes in helping clients resolve their issues from the bottom up – addressing the root causes of their challenges to promote lasting change.
