7-8 PM- Mother Hunger: Understanding Women and Addiction

Cost: Free

McDaniel’s ground-breaking descriptor: “mother hunger” gives name to the female tragedy leading women into addictive love and sex. Essentially, addiction is a generational inheritance; a substitute for failed early attachment. Drugs, alcohol, romance and food become foster parents, a loving mother. Acknowledging the pain breeding addictive longing allows compassion for the resourceful woman who manages to stay alive in a world that disempowers her and regulates the “feminine” into the shadows of society.

Saturday, May 20th (Workshop for Women located at Kenneth M. Adams and Associates. P.C.)

10 AM- 1PM- Mother Hunger: How Your Mother’s Love Runs Your Romantic Choices

Cost: $99

Naming the loss of maternal guidance and love reduces shame and fuels the recovery process for women. In a sensitive, compassionate dialogue, McDaniel presents the concept of Mother Hunger. Participants will learn how their mother’s love determines both self-image and romantic choices. Discussion will illuminate the differences for daughters who were treated cruelly and women who were engulfed by their mothers while resisting “mother blame”. Mother Hunger is about understanding that all women are part of a system that creates a legacy of longing and pain, which is crucial to healing addiction.
