Richard Boggs M.A., L.P.C., N.C.C.
Richard Boggs came to the field of counseling in the second phase of his career. Though he had an early interest in the field of psychology, he followed the career path encouraged by his high school counselor for boys and became an engineer in the automotive industry. Though his engineering career was very successful, after 20 years of high level management he walked away to live his dream of guiding individuals and families to hope and healing.
He knew from his first graduate course that this was the field he was destined for and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Community Counseling. He became a leader while in school, earning academic honors and honors in the field. He became the founding president of EMU’s Sigma Chi Iota, the honor society for counseling students. He served an internship at a faith-based family counseling agency, and upon graduation began his career with them.
It was during his employment there that he began working with individuals and families struggling with sexual addictions. After seeing the pain these addictions were causing and the healing that could take place through addiction recovery, he went on to specialize in treating sexual addictions. He truly has a passion for the field, for his patients and for the journey of recovery.
